Osaka is a loud, direct city, which makes the quiet start worthwhile. A private tea ceremony with a practising host takes about an hour, and you are shown the movements rather than watched performing them.

From there the day widens out: the castle and its park, the covered arcades, and Dotonbori once the signs come on.

The arcades and the tea room cover a good part of the day in rain.

Questions about this tour

Do we have to sit on the floor for the tea ceremony?
No. Low chairs are available, and we let the host know in advance so the room is set up before you arrive.
Can you collect us from a Kyoto hotel?
Yes, for an added transfer charge. Tell us your hotel and we will quote it.
Is Dotonbori manageable with a stroller?
The main strip is very crowded after 19:00. We usually visit at 17:30 with a stroller, which is calmer.
