A small agency, four regions, one group at a time

Travels Luxurious is a private tour agency based in Oyama, in Tochigi, two hours north of Tokyo and an hour from Nikko. We run guided day tours in four regions: Tokyo, Nikko, Nagano and Osaka. Every tour is private to one group, in one vehicle, with one guide.

We chose four regions rather than the whole country on purpose. Our guides drive these same roads every week, which is why they can tell you that the pagoda viewpoint is clear at nine and crowded by ten, or that the lake road above Nikko queues for an hour in the third week of October.

We are a new company. You will not find a founding year, a guest count or a star rating anywhere on this site, because we would have to invent them. What we can tell you is exactly how each day runs, hour by hour, before you commit to anything.

Families with children

We plan family days around the shortest comfortable driving legs, with a rest stop roughly every ninety minutes. Routes are chosen so a stroller works, child seats are fitted on request at no charge, and there is always a fallback stop if the afternoon goes badly. If a two-hour temple visit becomes forty minutes, that is a normal day.

Honeymoon and couples

Couples usually want fewer stops and more time at each. We start early to reach the viewpoints before the coaches, book the quieter side of a restaurant rather than the main room, and leave gaps in the schedule on purpose. Nothing on these days is announced to anyone else.

Muslim travellers

Japan is difficult to eat in without planning, so we do the planning before you arrive. We confirm halal or Muslim-friendly restaurants along the actual route, not a list of options across the city. Prayer times go into the schedule as fixed points, and we identify prayer space at the stops themselves, whether that is a mosque, a hotel prayer room or a quiet space at a service area. Your guide is briefed on the dietary requirements of the group before the day starts.
