Mount Fuji is clearest in the first hours of the day. We leave Tokyo early so you reach the Fuji Five Lakes while the air is still cold and the summit is out, rather than arriving at midday when cloud usually closes in.

The day runs at your pace. Stops are close together once you are in the Kawaguchiko area, so there is room to sit with a coffee, walk further along the lake, or leave a viewpoint early if the light has gone. Your guide will tell you honestly where the mountain is showing that morning and reorder the day around it.

This is the tour most of our guests book first. It suits families, couples and photographers equally, and almost all of the walking is optional.

Hotel pickup in Tokyo
We meet in your hotel lobby and load the vehicle. Blankets and water are on board, and children can sleep through the first leg.

Arakurayama Sengen Park
Arrival before the coaches. The climb to the upper terrace is around 400 steps, with a step-free slope route for anyone who prefers it.

Chureito Pagoda
The five-storey pagoda with the mountain behind it. Your guide knows the two quieter angles to the side of the main platform.

Oshino Hakkai
Eight spring-fed ponds fed by Fuji snowmelt. Thatched houses, clear water, and a good place for a warm snack.

Lunch by Lake Kawaguchiko
Hoto noodles, soba or a halal-friendly option arranged in advance. We book the table before the day so you are not queuing.

Oishi Park
The long lakeside flower terrace with Fuji directly across the water. Lavender in July, kochia bushes turning red in autumn.

Kachi Kachi ropeway or lakeside free time
A short cable car to the Mount Tenjo viewpoint, or an unhurried hour by the water if the group would rather rest.

Return to Tokyo
Back to your hotel by around 18:30, traffic depending. We can drop you at a restaurant or station instead.

Good to know

Season

Views are most reliable from November to March, when the air is dry. Summer often hides the summit until late afternoon.

Walking level

Light to moderate. The pagoda steps are the only real climb and can be skipped.

Weather

If the mountain is fully clouded, your guide will shift the day toward the lakes, Oshino Hakkai and indoor stops.

Questions about this tour

What happens if Mount Fuji is hidden by cloud?: The tour still runs. Your guide checks the mountain webcams that morning and reorders the stops toward the lakes and springs, which are worth the drive in any weather.
Is the pagoda climb manageable with young children?: Yes. There is a sloped path beside the steps, and we carry the pace of the slowest walker. Strollers are fine on the slope route.
Can we be dropped somewhere other than our hotel?: Yes. Shinjuku, Shibuya or a dinner reservation are all fine, at no extra cost, as long as we know before the day.
